Peat-ering out
This cabbage has been grown from seed & planted by: Rene, Ava and Wiktoria
This plot has added Pure Peat Compost from Ireland. Peat compost from Ireland is being dis-used so we can preserve our boglands to help with greenhouse gas emissions. To replace this, we have been importing different alternatives from other countries. Should we sustainably manage our own peat compost instead of taking from other countries?
The Irish Peatland Conservation Council are calling on the government to end the sale of peat moss compost in the retail sector by the end of 2024.
